Dystopia
First album release of Charcoal Fire.
After my band Charcoal Fire had already existed for a few years, we decided to record an album with our songs in 2019.
The recording process took place entirely on our own and we experimented with different recording conditions. In the end, the drums were recorded in our drummer's garden shed.
In contrast to more recent recordings, we decided to outsource the mixing to an external sound engineer. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic got in the way, which made the whole process more difficult.
In addition, there were two changes to the band's line-up during the recording process, which meant that some of the songs had to be rewritten and re-recorded
But in the end, we were able to release our album in February 2022.
The circumstances of the Covid pandemic forced us to move the recording process to the band members' home studios, so that we now have a well-rehearsed workflow for newer songs.
